Tri-County Literacy Council offers free award-winning occupational training (based on Essential Skills) for entry-level employment positions.
The nine Essential Skills identified by the Government of Canada as being necessary for success at work and daily life are:
- Reading
- Writing
- Numeracy
- Oral Communication
- Working with Others
- Thinking Skills
- Document Use
- Computer Use
- Continuous Learning
Depending on the training course, in addition to earning a program certificate, learners may also earn a second certificate to add to their employment portfolio, namely, a Worker Health & Safety Awareness certificate from the Ministry of Labour.
Learners also benefit from site visits and meeting industry guest speakers.
