Tri-County Literacy Council offers FREE award-winning occupational training (based on Essential Skills) for entry level employment positions.
The nine Essential Skills identified by the Government of Canada as being beneficial for work, home and play are:
- Oral Communication
- Working with Others
- Thinking Skills
- Document Use
- Computer Use
- Continuous Learning
Depending on the training course, in addition to earning a program certificate, learners may also earn a second certificate to add to their employment portfolio, namely, a Worker Health & Safety Awareness certificate from the Ministry of Labour.
Resume Writing and a Practice Interview are usually included in this job readiness training.
Participants also benefit from site visits and meeting industry guest speakers.
